The Pedro E. Guerrero Arts Center (PEG Arts) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization, established in 2022 and located in an historic 1880 adobe in the historic district of Florence, Arizona. The Center is named in honor of Guerrero, an internationally recognized photographer who made his home here and who serves as the inspiration for the artists, musicians and other creators who founded the center.
Pete was born in Casa Grande, Arizona in 1917. At the age of 22 he was hired by Frank Lloyd Wright to document his work at Taliesin West and other locations around the country. Following a stint as a photo officer in World War II, Guerrero settled in New York City in the 1950s where he remained on call for Wright and also began photographing other legendary artists including Alexander Calder and Louise Nevelson. In 1995, Guerrero returned to his Arizona roots and purchased the old adobe in Florence that now houses the PEG Arts Center. He lived there with his wife Dixie until his death in 2012, delighting neighbors and friends with his stories, his artwork, and his charm.
